Mr. Prahlad Kakkar

Prahlad Kakar started his career in advertising in 1970 in ASP Delhi. He is the Founder and Director of Genesis Film Production Pvt. Ltd., one of the leading production houses in India. Prahlad virtually invented a genre of television advertising in the years that followed. He has ruled the advertising world with his brand of irreverent humor, memorable brand building campaigns and has created Award winning commercials for the most reputed Corporates and agencies in India and the Asia Pacific region. “To tell a story in 30 secs in the most engaging way possible” remains Prahlad’s raison d’être for his continued passion for ad filmmaking, even 38 years later. Mr. Vinod Kumar

Starting his career in international collaborations and projects, in 1989, saw Vinod at the nerve centre of various successful Joint Ventures and Collaborations in Electronics & ; Telecom, Media & ; Publishing, Industrial & ; Consumer Electronics, Hospitality and Finance, with Multinational corporations entering India through the FDI route. Vinod started out as a technology entrepreneur to lead the development & ; successful sale of an indigenous developed navigation and geographic information system, based tracking patent and business, to a Russian Space and GIS Conglomerate. As an Investor he presently invests in profitable, innovative, Small and Medium Companies. Vinod leads his investor group in Risk Profiling, Assessing Growth Potential and deciding on Investment for Seed and Venture Financing to MSMEs in innovative and disruptive technologies, apart from day to day overseeing and leading extensive research and analysis of linkages, growth potential and market factors of SMEs involved in over 29 clusters across 11 Sectors including Food Processing, Dairy, Leather, Pharma, Engineering and Automotive in over 19 states of India. Provided management consultancy to the Governments of Egypt, UAE (Dubai), Kenya, Sri Lanka and several other countries of Asia & Africa, United Nations organizations, Commonwealth Secretariat etc. He is Vice President of WUSME, Chairman of SME Committee & ; Past President of AIMA and former Chairman of NSIC. For the past 13 years, he has been associated with Microsoft performing various roles like managing teams and P/L for specific businesses. Qualified computer engineer by profession, he has extensive experience of managing complex businesses, forming and running teams and developing and managing relationship with customers and partner. He believes that if India has to succeed, then SMBs will play the biggest role in that success. Mr. V K Agarwal

Mr. Agarwal is a Science graduate from St. Xavier College, Kolkata and has done LLB from University Law College, Kolkata. His extensive study and deep insights into financial and regulatory framework for MSMEs, have earned him the sobriquet- ‘intellectual entrepreneur’. Mr. Agarwal is known to possess a fierce reformist and a progressive attitude towards SMEs and the related regulatory and promotional environment they operate in. Having served on a number of Working/ Study Groups and Committees on SME Policies both at the level of Govt. of India and Govt. of U.P., he is currently member of National Social Security Board for Unorganised Workers under Union Ministry of Labour. Besides being associated with several businesses, he is Managing Director of Shashi Cables Ltd, manufacturer of ACSR Conductors. A well-read man, his knowledge of financial instruments is widely acknowledged in SME circles. He has been a visiting Faculty to IIM, Lucknow. Mr. Nirmesh Prakash

Nirmesh has 16 years of experience in finance and marketing, having spent the last seven years focused on the private equity industry as a partner with Ambit Pragma Advisors. He was also a key member of the Times Private Treaties team. Prior to working in the private equity industry in India, Nirmesh spent nine years in operating roles in sales and marketing, with the last five years spent with Asian Paints in their International markets. His prior work with Philips gave him hands-on sales and distribution experience in rural and urban markets in India. Ad veteran, Nikhi Nehru has been in the communications industry for over 40 years . He began his career in 1968 in account management with McCann (then Clarion McCann). Mr Nikhil Nehru is an Ad Vetran who has been in the communication industry for 40 years and starting his career in 1968 with McCann (then Clarion McCann) as Acount Manager and worked for several Ad and Media companies in India & Abroad ,the prominent and leading names include the then British ad agency, Masius Wynne Williams, which is now TAPE (Television Audience Programme Evaluation), an independently owned consultancy company that has been providing specialist services for media professionals in the television and film industries since 1976.He has been instrumental in building brands like WelcomGroup Hotels, Pepsi, Hero Group, Bacardi, General Motors, Microsoft, SmithKline Beecham, ITC Foods, Unilever India, TTK, Perfetti, Nestlé, Virgin Atlantic, Maruti Suzuki, L'Oreal and Coca-Cola for whom he has has handled launches, product diversification, corporate brand building and marketing and communication programmes. After spending decades in the Media Industry he set up a consultancy firm Ontrack Corporate Services, He currently is serving on the Governing Board of Plan India (an NGO which deals with children in difficult circumstances) and is an Associate of LeaderShape (U.K.) in India . LeaderShape conducts leadership programmes which focus on emotional intelligence and behaviour change. He is the Chief Patron of Haryana State Productivity Council. Govt. of Haryana has nominated Mr. Rajiv Chawla as Member of the Haryana Micro & Small Enterprises Facilitation Council to resolve the issues of delayed payments to Micro & Small enterprises located in the State of Haryana.Hon’ble Vice- President of India presented the prestigious BYST-JRD Tata Award to Mr. Rajiv Chawla in the year 2009. Mr. Chawla has served as Advisor/ Director on the Board of various Banks and Subsidiary Companies. He is on the Governing Councils of various Educational Institutions and visiting faculty to many Universities & Institutions. Mr. Patki is a commerce graduate and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with over 25 years of experience, out of which 17 years of total work experience is in Credit Information/Credit Rating/Risk Management arenas in India and Middle East/North Africa. Mr. Patki was involved in setting up offices in Middle East and North Africa while he was working with Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) – the USA based MNC. Mr. Ajay Thakur


A professional with more than 18 years of experience in Capital Market spanning India’s biggest Custodian to India’s biggest and largest Stock Exchange. Ajay has been instrumental in setting up the depository by the regional stock exchange, developing derivatives market and setting up the SME Platform. Ajay started the career way back in 1994 with Stock Holding Corporation Ltd as Senior Executive - Market operation. After working for one year joined Vadodara Stock Exchange in 1995 as Senior Management Executive looking after various departments viz Market Operations, Bad Delivery Cell and Auction. He was also assigned with the role to set up depository by VSE Ltd.He joined BSE Ltd in December, 1996 as Head – Arbitration and Business Development. He has developed the derivatives segment of BSE Ltd and also actively involved in opening of regional centers across the country. Presently as Head - BSE SME, responsible for the development of this segment of BSE Ltd. He very successfully launched the SME Platform on 13th March, 2012 and thus become the first Exchange to launch the Platform. Today BSE Ltd is the market leader in this segment with ninety percent market share. Within six months this platform has 13 companies listed and axnother 7 companies are to get listed. The success of this platform has brought a lot of enthusiasm in the market and more and more companies and market intermediaries are coming forward to get the companies listed on this platform.

Mr. Deepak Pande

Mr. Deepak Pande has been engaged full time since Jan 2012 in building the SME vertical for Vodafone India as the Executive Vice President & Head for this new vertical. Prior to this, he was responsible for starting up the Enterprise business for Vodafone in India and has over a decade of experience in the Indian telecom industry. He is a part of the World Bank group. He assists financial institutions across the world build SME banking programs to improve financial inclusion of the SMEs in those respective countries. He has spent 15 years in the consulting and banking industry and has been a part of the senior management at Ernst and Young, Kotak Mahindra Bank and GE Money. He has completed his first MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj and his second MBA from the Oxford University.

Ms. Roshika Singh

Finance Advisory Group, International Finance Corporation (IFC)

She focuses on financial inclusion projects and collaborates with a host of financial institutions to deepen the reach of SME finance in India. Ms. Singh started her career employing information communication technology (ICT) as a tool to increase access to information, transparency and accountability across a host of ministries and central banking systems in Georgia, Armenia, Croatia, Ukraine, Moldova and Eritrea and so forth. She led a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) effort for a freight rail management system in the SADC region and spent time in Tanzania, South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. Ms. Singh has a commitment towards engendering the projects that she manages and has been credited with spearheading the effort at USAID to mainstream gender into the ICT project portfolio. While at Deloitte, Ms. Singh was a co-Fund Manager for the Business Linkages Challenge Fund (BLCF), a cost sharing competitive grant scheme aimed towards improving the ability to access markets, enabling benefits of globalization to be secured for and by the poor. Ms. Singh was the Activity Manager for the Kosovo Business Finance Fund (KBFF) that established a full-service bank, to mobilize deposits and provide other financial services to SMEs in Kosovo, with the intent to create jobs and contribute towards recovery of the economy. The bank was sold to Raiffeisen Bank of Austria as an exit strategy.
