The seventeenth event in the series was held on 7th Jan'2014 at Le Royal Meridien Chennai in association with Hindustan Chamber of Commerce, Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturer's Association Tamil nadu, Small and Tiny Industries Association, Indian Finished Leather Manufacturers & Exporters Association, along with Reliance Commercial Finance a division of Reliance Capital, Bharti Airtel, Bank of India, BSE SME .
The Forum was inaugurated by Mr Mr. S.Sivagnanam, Additional Industrial Advisor, MSME Development Institute, Mr. Hasmukhlal D. Multiple discussions delved on the progress of SME sector of Chennai .The city has a very robust infrastructure, it has got good educational organisations and the government is also playing its role in giving incentives and protection to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and also there is a fairly good presence of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) which makes it a very conducive environment for growth. Despite all the elements being there, the economies of scale still seems to be an issue to reckon with which was highlighted in the forum that an organized approach still needs to come up.
Mr K.V Srinivasan CEO, Reliance Commercial Finance said We have seen companies transforming themselves from a small turnover, reaching up to Rs 100-200 crore and even more. So, there is merit demonstrated by the SME sector and in their business lines and yes, there is finance available for the eligible SMEs and we are more than eager to handhold them and help them to progress and grow further.
After having spread the aims and objectives on the knowledge sharing platform of Secrets of Success, Mr Vinod Kumar country Head SDRC said We are thankful to Reliance Commercial Capital and other partners for their support in aligning with our effort to cultivate and develop the small sector to its full potential
To facilitate and improve the competitiveness of the SME business sectors. India SME Forum endeavors to identify 180 clusters in and around 20 cities to provide various services to them, more economically, thus reducing costs and improving the availability of services for these enterprises as a key strategy for enhancing the productivity and competitiveness as well as capacity building of these Micro and Small Enterprises
ISF also intends to start Mentoring Programs March 2014 The Mentoring program will help business entrepreneurs who wish to excel and outperform competition seek guidance and advice face to face with eminent Mentors from finance, Marketing, tech& innovation companies aimed to encourage to set goals and expectations through our well designed program.
Mr Vinod Kumar Country Head SDRC & Honorary V.P India SME Forum moderated the sessions and discussed the urgency to have a more concise and concerted approach to help the SMEs to not only run their businesses but also enable them with a resource pool of knowledge and understanding the best practices on business competitiveness
Going forward to address the needs of SMEs on priority ISF intends to arm and support the SMEs with Small & Medium business Best Practices services to build a chain of information and knowledge channel across the country by inducting new approaches to its Secrets of Success initiative to handhold
the SMEs to Success and profitable sustainable growth . India SME Forum will transform the entire approach of Secrets of Success initiatives towards a service platform enabling the SMEs with the required knowledge to be competitive.
