In spite of the opportunities, SMEs are still vulnerable to technological progress than large companies due to their lack of understanding of business management and also adequate support that they are unable to utilize
Circumstances have created a paradoxal situation in Udaipur. The economy continues to witness depressed levels of growth, industrial production is stagnating At one time Udaipur was the biggest watch manufacturing sector but unfortunately many companies in this industry have closed down units due to the import of cheap Chinese watches. If the Chinese goods will invade the small industries there is a fear that it will cause many Small businesses to close down and the SME sector will be affected grossly.
The Sector lacks in basic facilities like infrastructure technological support, Upgradation of Skills, Capacity Building, inappropriate Communication facilities which is the root cause of the slowdown or decline of the SME businesses in Udaipur .An organized market needs to come up and working capital mechanisms needs to be regulated .
Multiple discussions brought to light the issues and problems that are faced by the SME's in Udaipur. In more fundamental terms It is time that government takes some serious considerations in making domestic industry globally competitive.. There needs to be a tailor-made approach in schemes and policies by the Government for the SME Sector including low rate of interest on lending ,support to Start ups at the initial stage facilitating liberal Schemes and benefits that will be lucrative to meet the needs of the Small industries in Udaipur .
An interactive mechanism e to keep SME's up-to-date on recent developments taking place at the global level to build up the capabilities of the SME's. it is very important for the SME's to know and learn the development of the Sector in general at the national and global level both as they should be aware of the global scenario to widen their business scopes .
The needs and requirements of the SME's needs to be channelized in a proper way by providing hands- on information and practical guidance on how to tackle issues in business or at the different stages of collaborative scopes that can be leveraged and explored time to time .This will help them keep up their efforts to offer services that best match the expectations and requirements with global standards .
After having spread the aims and objectives in session Mr Vinod Kumar summarized the session with his views on the need for developmental strategy for the Small enterprise businesses which in its true sense has continued to remain neglected and also stated unfortunately there is no concerted effort to cultivate and develop the small sector to its full potential There is a strong need for infrastructural support and facilitation of the policy instruments devised for upgrading technological capabilities of small firms as also promoting competitiveness and entrepreneurship of Small and Medium entrepreneurs Banking institutions need to change the collateral lending terms to reduce financing obstacles for the SME's by reducing the high interest rates and being liberal in their policies and procedures to help SME's to avail the benefits largely. He said unless the system is strengthened and streamlined ,smaller units would continue to suffer neglect in accessing the much needed credit for both inception and expansion
India SME Forum continues to build a chain of information and knowledge channel across the country by conducting such enlightening forums for the small and medium entrepreneur's .The objective of such forums is to provide an open discussion platform for SME's to communicate their objectives more freely and also get solutions to the problems. The next forum of Secrets of Success will be conducted in Chennai on 7th January at Hotel Le Royal Meridian
The SME's of Udaipur were very participative and eager to know and learn about the
The forum was attended by around 150 SME's from Udaipur and surrounding clusters .
