Description of the Scheme: For smooth extension, demonstration, training and production of Mulberry silk

Target group : Individuals, SHGs & Cooperatives

Eligibility Criteria:

Nature & Mode of Assistance:

  • Mulberry Extension cum Training Centre (METC)
  • There are 8 METC through these centres extension work and 6 month training to 10 persons of Mulberry Plantation and Rearing imparted. Beside this each centre has a target of production and distribution of 40,000 Mulberry Disease Free Laying (DFLs) with a nominal price of Rs.0.50 only for each DFLs. These centers act as a technical service centre and also helps in marketing of produced cocoon.
  • Mulberry Farm
  1. Situated at Roshna, Katihar and except all works are same as METC.<br>
  • Mulberry Extension Sub Centre (MESC)
  1. To support in extension and technical work 4 MESC are functional and for each centre is to rear 5,000 Chawki (Small) worm and distribute it to the farmers. 
  • Mulberry Reeling Cum Training Centres (MRTC)
  1. Two Centres functioning as Reeling Centre also provide 6 months training in Reeling and Spinning for 20 persons.
